Compliance Requirements and test Results
Note: Advice from “Energy Safe Victoria”: 31 October 2020
‘I can confirm that these are not an electrical product and would not require any approval for electrical safety.
You may require supporting documentation for the claims of non-flammable or non-conductive but that would be a consumer law requirement which is administered by ACCC

︎✸ Flammability Test (Includes extract from UL Report)
Hot Connection Clip Flammability Testing;
Hot connection clips are manufactured with 90-95% polypropylene and 5-10% thermochromic
The base polypropylene product is Vamplen 0024 VO C which is manufactured in Italy by
Vamp-Tech Spa. The product has been flammability tested to UL94 Standard and approved by
UL (Underwriter Laboratories) having UL yellow card number UL ID 223055.
The materials covered in this database are incomplete in certain constructional features or restricted in performance
capabilities and are intended for use as components of complete equipment submitted for investigation rather than for direct
separate installation in the field. THE FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE COMPONENT IS DEPENDENT UPON ITS
INSTALLATION AND USE IN COMPLETE PRODUCTS SUBMITTED TO UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES.

✸ Service Life and Fail Safe
Hot Connection clips are designed for use within enclosures that are not exposed to ultraviolet light since they are vulnerable to degradation from prolonged UV exposure.
Under prolonged UV exposure the purple/blue colour material within the hot connection clip will very slowly fade. Such fading will occur gradually and expose more of the base pink colour of the hot connection clip, thus in essence rendering them “fail safe” as they appear more pink than purple.
During any time throughout UV colour degradation, the hot connection clip will still change colour to pink if the local electrical connection or cable rises to the colour change activation set-point temperature.
In the absence of any UV exposure the hot connection clips have a typical service life of up to ten years, but to be conservative, the clips are sold on the basis of a five year service life.
